Brows 101 Series-Brow Gel

main-img
It’s the fourth and final installment of my little Brows 101 Series. Are you guys gonna cry? I might.

Just kidding. Brows never die. Especially mine. I saved the fastest, easiest, most natural brow definition method for last-brow gel!

This is how I define my brows when I spent too long in the morning watching GMA, heeeey Robin! Or when I want to get crazy and hit the town sans makeup, but let’s be real, not like no makeup.

In this tutorial, I am using Benefit Gimme Brow in the color Medium/Deep. It is an ashy taupe color. There is one shade lighter, Light/Medium. It’s described as a fiber gel, though I’ve never seen too many actual fibers in there. However, it gives me a baller idea! If you want to bulk them brows up, take the fibers from Too Faced Better Than False Lashes, or the Japonesque Fast Lash and brush through your brows after applying any brow gel.

I like this product for an extremely low-maintenence look, but there’s not much in the tube for $22, .10 oz, compared to the Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel at .32 oz for the same price! I like the tiny applicator a lot though and the color. I just want mo. As in, 3x mo.

I brush the gel through using upward strokes and dot the tip of the wand where I want more product and to shape the tail end of my brows.

This is my lazy girl method! I use the Lancome gel, but it’s always on back order, so it’s great to hear about these other options!

I know it has nothing to do with brows but, what lipstick are you wearing? It’s perfect!

Hi Lidia! Thank you so much! I believe this was NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in Tea Rose. http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/p-15-extra-creamy-round-lipstick.aspx

What eye makeup are you using – it looks very natural and almost nude – this is what I am trying to achieve and I cannot find the right colors in a matte finish – I don’t what shimmery. Love the look!

Thank you Beverly! This eye look is very natural-you’re right! I have a matte, warm brown color in the crease that I belieeeeve was Taupe from the LORAC Pro Palette. Any warm, matte brown works though! If you like matte-Stila’s In The Know Palette is all matte and all great! Thanks for reading!

Thanks for answering my email Ivy – I have watched most of your videos and purchased some of the products you use. The only thing I have not liked is Urbay Decay Primer in Potion. Back to this eye look, if you matte brown in crease what did you use on the lid and did you you use a primer first. I like the natural way it looks. I am a getting older and all the looks I used before don’t work as well now so I try to keep it simple. I used to have perfect eyebrows but the older you get they start thinning and then hairs you never knew you had start growing in everywhere – boy it is no fun when you never had to worry before. I also had fuller lips and they have thinned as well – but staying away from any filler. I am going to try the nude look with some of the products you have mentioned. Also, I bought an inexpensive BB Cream as I had never heard of them before, but I had just purchased the New Bare Minerals with the Brush that is hollowed out. I do not like anything heavy on my face. I don’t think I like the BB Cream in the brand I purchased, but am going to try Clinque I think as I used a lot of their products. The Bare Minerals goes on very well and I like it. But have not figured out which would be best to use. So, back to the eyes, if you could tell me what you used on the lids, did you use a liner or primer on them and anything helpful to get that look I would appreciate it. I love looking at all your videos and reading your blog.

Of course! I’m so glad that my blog and videos have been helpful, for the most part! For the natural lid color, I believe it is “Cream” from that same LORAC Pro Palette. It’s really one of my favorite palettes of all time! I always use a primer first, no matter what. If you don’t love Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, some of my other favorite primers are Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray and LORAC’s Behind the Scenes Eye Primer.
And ugh-isn’t the aging process so fun?! You’re totally right. Brows and lashes thin while our lips lose collagen. I have been liking Rimmel’s Lash Accelerator Serum and though I have decent lashes and brows for now, I am trying to get a head start. I’ve heard good things about RapidLash serum too.
Are you liking the bareMineral’s Bareskin with the new brush? I’ve heard such good things and I really like the serum-like texture!
          Thanks for writing!

Thanks again Ivy for the wonderful advice. I will try to find the Lorac Pro Palette you are using. I do like the Bare Minerals Bareskin – it does not feel heavy and the brush is kind of neat and you can put as much of the serum in as you like – so I will stick with it and the BB Cream as well – not together but depending on what I am doing – both are easy to put on but I do use a moisturizer with the Bare Minerals and I have a Primer that I got a while ago that lasts forever and it makes your skin feel really silky. I have signed up for all your posts as they are so helpful. And, when you put the “fake” bob with bangs” on I thought you really looked cute with bangs. I have them and have always had them – but they really look good on you and bring out your eyes, which are your crowning glory!!! Thanks for answering!

Anytime Bev! And thanks for the bangs compliment! I used to have blunt, straight-across bangs once upon a time!

Where did you get the faux bob with bang or any good hairpiece for that matter, I would like to get one where I could do a pony tail – so I could just pull back my hair and attach it – I got your post about the new lipstick by Revlon – so I will stick with your recommendation for the butters, etc. from Revlon – thanks again for all your good advice.

I got them at Ulta. The brand is Hair U Wear. They do have ponytails and other pieces too!
