My 10 Beauty Resolutions
- Do a mask or peel weekly. I have been loving the more hydrating masks right now like the fancy, Frenchly-named NUXE Masque Creme Fraiche de Beaute Soothing & Rehydrating Mask. I love that you can apply this, let it sit for 5 minutes and then rub the excess in. I like using it as a sleeping mask because that involves sleeping.
- Try new brands. Sugarpill, Ardency Inn, Dose of Colors, Colour Pop, Saucebox and Lit Cosmetics, just to name a few!
- Wash my personal brushes more often. Of course I wash the brushes I use on clients after every appointment but my own personal brushes often don’t get that same type of love. Boo! What excuse do I have either? God knows I know how to do it! Hello?!
- Buy only what I LOVE and be picky. The more products I try, I find the pickier I become, so it shouldn’t be too hard!
- Use lip liner more. I always love how crisp and pulled-together my look is when I use a lip liner first so I vow to bring it into my routine more. I used a Sephora gift card I got from my MIL to buy some of the Obsessive Compulsive Colour Pencils and I can’t wait to use them more!
- Perfect false lash application on self. I have no problem putting them on others, but on myself, I get so irritated with false lashes. Wearing contacts alone is a struggle so lashes just piss me off further usually.
- Do nails more. Especially as a makeup artist, and someone whose fingertips are on display in tutorial videos, good Lord. Here’s what I know I like at least.
- Make the effort to do my hair more! Granted I’ll probably just utilize local blow dry bars, but just prioritizing my hair more is what I hope to do. I feel 10 times more confident when I take the time to style it. I hate seeing videos where I neglected to do it and I just think “Ivy, come on.“
- Eat foods for skincare benefits. Sweet potaterz, omega fatty acid rich foods, y’all know the drill. This is a never-fail recipe for salmon that I’m SO glad I discovered via Pinterest! Damn delicious indeed.
- Break out of my light-to-dark fade eye look rut. I hope to do more eye looks that emphasize the lash line and work with darker colors on the lid. The light-to-dark fade is a beautiful look, but sometimes we do our go-to look over and over and it kinda becomes a beauty crutch.
2014 was a really lovely year and I am so thankful for everything I got to do, all that I learned, the people I met, the changes and the happenings. I really hope that 2015 will only bring as much. I’d like to think that if you’re doing what it is you were meant for, the thing that your heart needs, you will find success and fulfillment at nearly every turn.
I want to never stop learning when it comes to makeup. I want to get better every time I pick up a brush. I’m not going to stop doing makeup until I have carpal tunnel, and even then, I’ll just figure out another way to do it. I love doing makeup. I hope that comes through in every post you read. xoxo.

01/12/2015 at 1:22 PMGreat beauty resolutions! I’m totally with you on #4 I have become really picky. It’s always nice to try new product to find out what works and what doesn’t, but it does make one pickier.
