The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops Review
Are you the owner of a foundation graveyard like myself? Bottles upon bottles of Goldilocks and the Three Bears foundation colors-this one is too light, this one is too dark, this one is too pink. This one is juuust riiight. If you’ve ever wanted to adjust your foundation color, lighten it or create a perfect contour color from it, Read on so you can say, “now this one? This one is juuuust right!”
The Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops are here to save your foundation’s ass.
There are 2, one to lighten foundations for light to medium skin tones and one to darken foundations for dark to deep skin. I was a little bummed as I have some foundations that are too light and I was hoping to use Darkening drops to adjust them. However, don’t despair! I found the Darkening Drops to be fabulous, actually perfect, for creating the perfect contour color. If you’d like to see them in action and skip some reading, watch my video below. If you’re laying in bed reading this and don’t want to wake your spouse or pets, read on.
Value These retail for $20 each and if you consider that most foundations cost between $12 and $62, anything to make them usable would be worthwhile. I find the price point to be quite fair and I expected them to cost more.
Formula The consistency is nice, not too runny, not too thick, It doesn’t dispense great from the dropper though. You’ll get some sputtering and air bubbles. I kind of hate the strong rose scent. I don’t get why it needs to have that??
Pigment The Lightening contains white and pink pigments to lighten and counteract yellow in foundation. I’m surprised it didn’t turn my foundation orange on me as I’m naturally quite yellow. The Darkening has black and red pigments. I can’t attest to it’s darkening abilities in deeper foundations but I will say it adds the perfect amount of ashy shadow color to your foundation for a cream contour. Spot on.
Would I recommend The Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops? Yes, I would! I think they work as intended and the price is quite modest for what they do for your existing products. I like that you can make a foundation that hasn’t seen any face time work and create the perfect contour color without buying additional product.
