Derma e Skincare Review
The skincare train don’t stop, folks! I’ve been trying out a full range of products from the brand derma e. I first heard of derma e through a Target Beauty Box but it wasn’t a great first impression. I tried their derma e Hydrating Day Creme and the scent was off-putting to me. It smelled like baby aspirin so I gave it to my mom who was also not a fan. I’m so glad I got to try other products in the line though because it seems the day creme was just a misstep. Read on to find out what derma e products I tried and what I loved.
Let’s chat about the people behind the purple first. derma e creates cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, phthalate-free vegan skincare, produced from a small-batch facility in Southern California. derma e has full-disclosure labeling, so what you see on the label is exactly what you get. I felt good about trying their products for all of these reasons and it never gets old seeing brands doing things the right way.
derma e Makeup Remover • $12.75 I like the soothing ingredients in this and the fact that it’s fragrance free for sure. However, I do find that oil-based eye makeup removers work best at really breaking down makeup so I had to work a little harder with this. I like this better used as a clean up tool vs. a full removal method. Rating: Meh
Derma E Purifying Gel Cleanser • $15.50 I loved that this was fragrance and sulfate free but it left my dry skin feeling a bit tight. It’s recommended for normal to oily types so it makes sense. If you have oily skin, I think you’d like this. Rating: Meh
Derma E Microdermabrasion Exfoliant Scrub • $26.99 I tend to favor chemical vs. physical exfoliants most of the time but this is a great way to refresh and resurface once in a while. It’s not harsh and a little goes a long way. It didn’t burn or sting or leave my face red or irritated. It buffs dry skin and impurities away via volcanic sand and dead sea salt, brightens with lemon and lime peel and soothes with grapeseed and Vitamin E. Rating: Like
Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask • $19.50 I really liked this mask and it’s probably my favorite charcoal one I’ve tried. I used it prior to using a pore strip on my nose and boy did it work! It does not feel drying or leave my skin feeling uncomfortable. Rating: Love
Overnight Peel • $18.75 This contains 5% alpha hydroxy acids, more specifically glycolic, lactic, malic and fruit acids. AHA’s work on the skin’s surface level and BHA’s work below. A=above and B=below. This chemically exfoliates the skin, great for discoloration and unevenness. It had a slight tingle but it faded and left my skin feeling fine in the morning. I use retinol so might use this one night a week. For anti-aging and keeping pores clear, I love exfoliants like this and it’s somewhat affordable too. Rating: Like
Purifying Youth Serum • $29.50 This is really gentle and nice and adds a nice extra layer of hydration. It feels soothing and lightweight. The anti-again comes from ingredients like Wakame seaweed and green tea. Rating: Like
Firming DMAE Eye Lift • $21.99 This is my favorite product from the roundup. I love any eye cream in a tube format because it’s the most hygienic dispensing method. No air is introduced into the product and you aren’t putting dirty fingers in a pot so smart packaging, derma e! It’s powers are in goji berry, peptides and hyaluronic acid. I enjoy it’s non-greasy, yet hydrating feel. Not all eye creams feel light enough to wear during the day under makeup but this one I would. Rating: Love
Overall, I recommend the derma e skincare line without hesitation. If you’re looking to establish a skincare routine at an affordable price point, using products free of harmful ingredients, derma e is an excellent brand to explore. Try their skincare quiz to find recommendations based on your skin type or simply look at the helpful band on the top of the product packaging to make sure it will suit your skin.
Thanks for reading, as always. I hope this has been helpful and you know I’ll be back with more soon!
