How to feel fancy for less

I don’t consider myself to be a real boujie person in general, but I sure do like feeling fancy. I love things that feel cozy, look beautiful and smell nice. It’s ok to enjoy nice things, and more importantly, to know that you are worth that. Fancy is a feeling, available to all, at a lower price that you might think.

These products will make you feel like you’re living your best luxury life, but won’t drain your bank account, making them just that much better. Better yet, many of them are available at Target, my home away from home.

Dossier Fragrances

Scent is so closely tied to a luxury experience. When you think about walking into a chic hotel lobby, there’s likely a carefully-curated scent that greets you.

I want to smell good but can no longer justify spending hundreds of dollars to do so. Not only that, but a lot of my favorite scents (Chanel, for example), aren’t cruelty free. Enter Dossier.

My favorite Dossier scents remain Woody Hyacinth (dupe for longtime fave Chanel Chance) and Woody Sandalwood (dupe of the iconic Le Labo Santal 33).

I’ve talked about Dossier before but I recently tried out two new scents, gifted by Dossier. Musky Musk (dupe for the $105 Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume) and Ambery Vetiver ($200 Byredo Bal d’ Afrique dupe), which gives major rich lady who lunches vibes.

My favorite time to apply Dossier scents is after my night shower, right before bed. I even spritz some on my pillow sometimes.

Milk Frother

If you drink coffee or hot chocolate, or perhaps matcha or chai lattes, take it up a notch with a milk frother. For $30, you can elevate your milk to barista foamy goodness. There are of course some very fancy milk frothers out there, but this Bodum one has served me well and couldn’t be simpler to use.

If you like coconut milk, Silk Unsweet Coconut Milk is the absolute best tasting and best frothing too. If coconut isn’t your vibe, but you still like a plant-based milk, Milkadamia Latte Da froths amazingly.

Lash Extensions for Less

If you love the look of lash extensions, but not the cost of of the up keeping, Kiss has really done something with their Falscara system. Similar to pricier at home lash system, Lashify, Falscara offers you the look of lash extensions for $20-$25. You can remove them when you want to, or wear for up to 10 days with the Overnighter seal.

Before trying them, I had 2 main reservations: perceived discomfort and difficulty. Kiss Falscara lashes were neither. I was most surprised at how uncomfortable they weren’t!

Body Oil

Body lotion gets the job done, but there’s something so extra luxurious about applying a wonderfully scented body, straight from the shower. You can do something soothing before bedtime like Aura Cacia’s Lavender body oil or something invigorating like Dr. Teal’s Eucalyptus & Spearmint.

Either way, make sure to put it on while your skin is still wet for the most hydration and make sure you love the scent. It’s about the experience of caring for yourself, just a little more than usual.

Super Soft Loungewear

I’m not going to spend my money on Skims loungewear, or even Barefoot Dreams, but I am absolutely going to buy Target’s Stars Above Feather Yarn line in it’s entirety. Soft on the skin fabrics and matching sets make me feel like I have my life right.

I absolutely lived in these sweatshirts the last two winters, and now that they have pants and cardigans too? I am fully in my cozy era. Enter hibernation mode.

Sizing Tip: I wear a Medium in the top, as seen in this reel, and it’s roomy. I wear a 34DD bra size.

If you’re short like me, (I’m 5’2″), the women’s pants will be too long. If your sizing accommodates it, the Art Class kids brand has the same fabric and similar styles. I would wear a Medium in the women’s pants, and the girls XXL(18-20) were a nice roomy fit on me.

Fancy Nails

If well-manicured nails make you feel fancy, but regular salon trips for those tips make your wallet feel sad, you’re going to love the current state of press on nails. Press-on almost sounds like a dirty word with all the trendy options now available.

Kiss continues to elevate the game with various lines like Masterpiece Luxe and Gel Fantasy. Olive & June’s Instant Mani promises the “realest-looking fake nails you’ve ever seen” in a set of 42 fake nails for $10.

Whichever way you go, press-on nails look better than they ever have and can easily pass for a professional manicure with the right shaping and application.

Fireplace feels

What is it about a cozy fire that makes us feel like we are living the good life? If your home lacks a fireplace, and an electric one just isn’t the vibe, you still have a real flame options for under $60.

With a TerraFlame Tabletop Fire Bowl, you can have a real crackling flame that you can even roast marshmallows on!
