Nude lips, nude beach, nude pantyhose, Tobias Fuenke never nude-sorry, just confusing the search engines there. Don’t blush, this post is about the quintessential nude lip and how to find the right shade for your skin tone!
I want to first talk about what a “nude” lip really means. Nude, meaning naked would indicate that a nude lip is the natural color of your lips, sans product. No one’s natural lip color is pale tan. My theory on nude lips might be a little different but I’ve just seen the “mouth-erasing” tans go off course too many times.
So, I set out to find out why those nudes were going so wrong. What I concluded is this: you almost always need your nude to be either a hint peachy or pink to be flattering and un-corpse-like. If you are a darker-skinned babe, you can actually rock out those chocolate shades that so many can’t!
Find your undertone below and follow the arrow to see the family of nude you should steer your lips towards!
Since I’m a definite yellow undertone, when I wear a color that is too cool-toned pink, it clashes with my warm undertone and looks garish rather than subtle. If you have a pink undertone, a peachy nude will read orange or even brownish on you. Can y’all dig it? WE CAN DIG IT!

I think I’m a pink undertoned kinda girl… Maybe?
This is an awesome buying guide- I know I have several (okay, like 12) nude lippies in my makeup arsenal that seriously don’t work on me, haha.
