It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Creme

Sometimes I’ll start writing a review in my head before I’ve even tried the product, based on first impressions and overall judging a book by it’s cover. It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Creme had me like, “with it’s beige shade, there’s no way it could cover paler girls’ redness! It’s not a true color correcting cream as it isn’t yellow or green…”

Well color me wrong! This absolutely knocks out redness. So weird, but it works! Apparently this has micronized red-cancelling pigments infused into it. I used this prior to my foundation on the reddest parts of my skin, mainly my nose. I think due to my retinol and Clarisonic usage, my nose is permanently more red than the rest of my face. This is frustrating as it still shows up red through foundation at times. This totally knocks that out, isn’t cakey and wears well under foundation.

1-2. Using a synthetic brush, I dotted the product where I have the most redness, mainly my nose.

3. Next, I dotted it on other areas that I had redness and/or darkness, like the melasma on my forehead. #YAY

4. Using a rounded kabuki brush, I buffed out the areas I applied the creme.

5. Here is how my skin looks with just the Redness Correcting Creme on.

6. Now I’m applying my regular foundation.

I didn’t find it to be as effective when spotted onto blemishes. It’s much better on larger areas. This could also be due to the fact that my skin tone is like that of an egg shell right now.

I saved the best for last! Today only, as part of ULTA’s 21 Days of Beauty sale, this magical jar of red-canceling goodness is half off! 16 bucks people!

Final verdict: While I do think you could use this solo on low-maintenence days, I mostly love it as a pre-foundation, neutralizing tool that allows you to use less foundation on your reddest areas. I could see this being especially effective for those with rosacea or just permanantly ruddy cheeks. A little goes a long way and the texture is like a whipped soufflé, which blends in like a dream.

If you like how all of this sounds, get thee to ULTA because today is the only day you’re going to grab this for $16.00! FYI-you can also get 4% cash back when shopping ULTA via ShopAtHome.com!
