Keratin Lash Lift and Tint

As a beauty blogger for the past 4+ years, I’ve tried a lot of products and all sorts of beauty treatments. I am not your typical blogger thats squeals that they are obseeeeessed with everything I try. I’m a tough critic. I don’t remember the last time I was genuinely blown away by a beauty treatment. Until this week. I got a keratin lash lift and tint at Des Moines’ Lash Love Beauty Bar and it was beyond what I expected. Read on to see what I mean.

I first met Vanessa, one of the co owners while she was modeling on a video shoot I was doing makeup for. I had heard of lash extensions, which Lash Love Beauty Bar does too, but when she mentioned the keratin lash lift and tint, I was confused…but intrigued. I knew that no one else was doing this and that it sounded like the next big thing.

So what exactly is it? The keratin lash lift and tint is what it sounds like really; a lift and tint for your lashes that lasts 8-12 weeks. Lash Love Beauty Bar’s is a 100% chemical free treatment that actually strengthens your lashes and involves no glue or extensions. Your natural lashes are lifted and tinted darker but no fibers or lashes are added to them.

Here are the basics about the keratin lash lift and tint process. The process takes about an hour. While laying down, with your eyes closed, your lashes are brushed upwards onto a plastic shield. Then, the keratin treatment is brushed on. This does have a noticeable “perm-like” scent but it’s not perm chemicals. After the treatment sits, a lash conditioner is applied and it has a pleasantly fruity scent. Then, comes the tint. This was the only step that caused a slight amount of tingling/stinging. Vanessa said that’s quite common and not concerning. Last of all, a nourishing oil is applied to the lash. Afterwards, you are not to apply eye makeup or get them wet for 48 hours.

Below is a before and after shot of my lashes. I am not wearing any eye makeup in either photo. I could easily have just posted these photos and no text as they truly speak for themselves. I am sick, so if you notice redness in my eyes, that’s likely the cause.

I expected lift and darkening but I was pretty blown away with how pretty my lashes looked. It was as though I was wearing a pair of really natural false lashes! What I really like about the effect is the separation. Every single lash was in it’s place and defined, making it seem as though I had twice as many!

I texted my husband a photo afterwards and he said, “you have fake lashes on though right?” I said “No! Those are mine!” to which he responded “Bs!”

Here is how my lashes looked immediately after the treatment. As you can see, the tint is darkest at my lash line and it looked like I had eyeliner on! I am laying down in the photo below.

Now, here is how my lashes looked today after 3 days and getting them wet for the first time. I was afraid to peek at them after my shower, fearing they might have lost their curl or color, but to my delight, they were still as pretty as ever.

The cost for the keratin lash lift and tint at Lash Love Beauty Bar is $150. With the effects lasting 8-12 weeks, and the ability to skip mascara all together if you want, the cost is more than worth it to me. I’m told the lift will last a bit longer than the tint but I love me some mascara so I’m not worried.

I’m definitely sold on this treatment. It’s instant gratification at it’s finest and my minimalist makeup girls are going to love getting away without mascara. If you’re not in Des Moines, keep tabs on the Lash Love Beauty Bar Facebook page because Vanessa occasionally travels to other areas. If she’s in your neighborhood and you have eyelashes, you’d be silly not to book!

Love this. I used to do extensions but they took FOREVER to maintain. Does she know anyone in Atlanta she recommends?

Hi Tina! I’ve been told there are a few brands of the treatment, some better than others. I can tell you that Lash Love Beauty Bar uses a paraben-free formula out of Paris.
