Micellar Waters

Jigga what? Micellar who? Just when you think you have all your beauty terminology down, a new buzzword pops up and you’re like, “hold up, what?” Micellar waters are not new, but new to the mass market. Bioderma has been used by makeup artists for years to prep client’s skin but now every brand from high-end to drugstore is putting out a cleansing water of their own. Micellar waters are facial cleansing products that contain tiny “micelles” which act as a magnet for dirt, oil and makeup. When swiped across your face with a cotton pad, they remove makeup and dirt without drying, no rinsing required! Good micellar waters are alcohol-free and contain soothing ingredients to calm skin. Two of my favorite affordable options are the Simple Cleansing Water and SEPHORA Triple Action Cleansing Water. I much prefer these to makeup wipes! If I don’t have a lot of makeup on, I will just use a micellar water to cleanse on nights I’m super sleepy, but ideally, I’ll remove all makeup with my micellar water, then follow with my Clarisonic Mia.
