Skin Regimen Skincare Review

It seems that every single day, a new “natural” skincare line launches. So many seem to be doing the same thing, making the same claims, just in different packaging. Skin Regimen is unique in a few ways and I’m going to tell you why it won’t blend into the crowd.

Described as “modern plant chemistry for urban dwellers”, Skin Regimen is a skincare line from Italian haircare brand Davines. They aim to destress your skin and your life. Sign. Me. UP.

Impressive Sustainability

Skin Regimen is a CO2 neutral brand that sponsors a reforestation program. It’s made in Parma, Italy, where they use electricity from renewable resources.

Skin Regimen is packaged in recyclable glass, sugarcane-derived plastic, safety-certified aluminum and FSC-certified paper. Impressed?

Unique Ingredient Profile

As with many clean skincare lines, Skin Regimen is free of synthetic fragrance, silicones, artificial colorants, mineral oils and parabens. It is also a vegan and cruelty-free line.

There are a few ingredients in the line that I’ve either not seen in skincare before, or very infrequently, one of them being the anti-inflammatory distant cousin of CBD, Copaiba. Others I don’t often see include wild indigo, juniper, Microalgae and tulsi.

What I Tried

Skin Regimen Cleansing Cream

Because I have dry skin, I always gravitate towards cream cleansers. This has the most lovely and luxurious texture and it leaves my skin feeling so nicely balanced. It smells so comforting and cozy, making me look forward to using it. I will definitely finish the tube.

Skin Regimen Microalgae Essence

I’ve been getting more into essences, especially since I recently learned the best way to keep skin hydrated is actually a multi-step approach, starting with something thin and humectant like this. It’s lightweight texture will be great for hydrating the skin this summer, under a light SPF moisturizer.

Skin Regimen Tripeptide Cream

Peptides are super great for anti-aging so I loved seeing that this contains a Tripeptide-5, in addition to organic maqui berry, spinach, wild indigo and dandelion. I’ve been using this as my night cream. It hydrates well, without feeling heavy or overly rich. No complaints.

Skin Regimen 1.5 Retinol Booster

Skin Regimen 1.5 Retinol Booster

If there’s one skincare ingredient that I’ve seen the most noticeable improvement from, it’s most certainly retinol. I was so excited to see that Skin Regimen not only had a retinol product but a 1.5% one! Retinol is something you definitely want to work up to but I’ve been doing that for the last several years and 1.5% is a really effective place for me to be at 35 years old.

My favorite way to use this is to mix it into a pump of the Microalgae Essence. It could definitely be drying if you haven’t used retinol before. I’d start out by maybe mixing it into a moisturizer first and/or only using it every 3 nights, then every other until you can work up to every night.

Do I recommend Skin Regimen?

Though the price point is higher, if you’re wanting a clean, but effective skincare line that prioritizes sustainability, Skin Regimen is it.

What I love about Skin Regimen is that while it’s definitely on the clean end of the skincare spectrum, the products still include the effective, tried-and-true stars like peptides, retinol, hyaluronic acid and lactic acid.

I find all of the products in the line to be noticeably soothing. Their woodsy, almost cedar-like scent is cozy and comforting and makes me enjoy using these products in my routine.

I would repurchase the Skin Regimen Cleansing Cream and possibly Microalgae Essence.
