Vita Liberata Phenomenal Tan Mousse Review

Always on a quest to find the least-stinky sunless tanner, I recently tried out . I had so many thoughts so I started a “sunless tanner diary” to give you the play-by-play Read on to find out if it stinks and if it really lasts 2-3 weeks. Oh! And you can win some too! 6:30 PM
I apply the  with the mitt. It applies and blends very easily. Even when I put my nose basically into the mitt, there is no detectable fragrance or odor. Tanner has slight bronze color so makes it easy to see where it is applied and also gives a pretty instant tan.

6:35 PM
I spread out a beach towel on my bed, turn the ceiling fan on high and lay down to dry.

6:37 PM
Husband walks by room and asks what is going on in there. I tell my husband I’m working on my beach body, call him a cabana boy and demand a tropical drink with a pineapple wedge. Said drink does not ever arrive.

6:45 PM
Skin feels dry and non-sticky. Still no scent or icky feel. I get dressed and go about making dinner, sans pants.

7:20 PM
Just touched my arm and feels completely dry and as though I never applied anything at all. This is good.

7:46 PM
Might smell a very faint DHA smell when I smell the inside crook of my elbow. I ask my husband who says he only smells the pasta and wine I ate.

9:00 PM
PM Husband remarks that he can only smell the tanner when I get sweaty. The next day

9:00 AM
I notice a streak on my thigh where it looks like water must have splashed onto me.

10:00 AM
I notice that there is a white imprint underneath a bandaid I applied last night to my arm.

6:30 PM
In the shower I see the bronzer wash off down the drain pretty dramatically. Some of it gets on my white towel. Makes note to use dark gray towels next time. No scent lingers though and color is still deep, flattering and realistic.

Overall Thoughts

is the most expensive sunless tanner I have tried.

Of all the tanners I’ve tried, this smells the least, if any at all. The color is the most long-lasting and the most realistic.

As far as longevity, 2 weeks is somewhat realistic to say with daily moisturizing but 3 is a stretch I think.

Loved reading your review – so sad you never received your tropical beverage!

I am very fair-skinned and my skin is incapable of tanning naturally. I discovered this product several years ago and haven’t looked back! I love how easy the mousse is to apply. It lasts several relatively longer than most products I have tried (but agree that it is quite a stretch to say it lasts 2-3 weeks). I apply at night and shower off in the morning – I love that it doesn’t leave a lingering odor or cause me to look orange.

Thanks for reading, Joanna! I’m so glad to know it works well for you too! It’s always reassuring to know that my experience was consistent. Now, if only I could find a self-applying sunless tanner, we’d be set!

I’ve done the Jergens and I’ve tried spray tans — I did one the week before the wedding which I didn’t love. It looked funky on my legs which didn’t bother me for the wedding since they were covered up but did look odd when wearing shorts (of course, no one is looking at my legs except me!!). Thanks for your sweet note I got in the mail yesterday!! We just got pictures back and my husband (still not used to that…) commented that he liked my smoky eye, ha ha!

I’ve only liked this Vita Liberata tanner and one from TanWise, sold at Sally Beauty. I’m so glad your husband liked your makeup! I look forward to seeing your pics when you post some! Thanks for reading!

Yes I’ve mostly good luck with the ones I’ve tried.

I use Moritz (spelling?) from Ulta. I always wonder if the $$ ones are worth it! Good review!

I use sunless tanner mainly for my face. I have used whole body lotions but really have a problem with the smell. Glad this one has little to no odor.
