Wake Up For Makeup Turns 2

Thank you for celebrating Wake Up For Makeup’s 2nd birthday with me. It means so much to have had you here all this time. I would have written it had no one read, but the fact that people do read it, well my heart is just overjoyed. If you’re here reading this blog, you’re so very important to me. I want you to know that.

I hope that those who wanted to, were able to enter my giveaway! I’m excited to announce my 3 wonderful winners at the end of this post! But before that, some mushy stuff of course.

I started Wake Up For Makeup with the purest of intentions, and none of them involved money. I promise you that. If you want to start a blog for that reason, don’t. You’ll come up empty-handed and disappointed.

I began because I wanted and needed an outlet. I love doing makeup. I love talking about makeup. I knew I needed a special place to put my excitement and that place, was the internet. I don’t have sisters, just a wonderful brother, but I have found you all and made this community my sisters.

In these 2 years, I have said yes more and more. I have forged some awesome friendships as a result of this blog. I have experienced the ugly side of blogging/the internet and been called ugly and sloppy. And you know what? That’s ok! The internet is everyone’s free space to say whatever they feel. Because I have the freedom to put out a Katy Perry tutorial, others also have the freedom to say they hate it. It all evens out. Besides, no amount of “this looks awful” could ever erase the pride I feel in seeing something I created flourish and grow. I love making things and this blog might be my favorite thing yet!

It is the genuinely wonderful people like you who make me smile that make it all worth it. Thank God for you. You make me type another post!
