Best Glowy Sunscreen For All Skin Types

When it comes to anti-aging and reducing your risk of skin cancer, sunscreen is an absolute non-negotiable. The same sunscreen you use on your body is often not a formula you’d enjoy on your face. Fortunately, there’s a plethora of options on the market now, depending on your skin type and desired finish.

If the finish you’re after is glow, I’ve rounded up the top 4 best glowy sunscreens to suit all skin types and tones. As always, my recommendations are all cruelty free.

Best for golden and olive undertones

As a light olive undertone, most tinted glowy sunscreens lean more neutral/peachy undertone, making them a complete mismatch for my skin. Iris & Romeo Weekend Skin SPF 50 is the first glowy spf I’ve found that is truly golden to olive and it blends in seamlessly. No more weird pink cast here!

I like the inclusion of time release vitamin c, providing additional antioxidant protection. The only criticism I have is that it has an initially odd smell. Once blended into the skin, I’m not bothered by it.

If I didn’t need foundation for melasma coverage, I’d happily wear this glowy spf all on it’s own. Here’s a video showing application.

Best for combo skin

If you have a bit of your own glow but still want a luminous sunscreen, InnBeauty Project Mineral Sun Glow SPF 43 Pa +++ fits the bill. Mineral Sun Glow is not oil forward and feels lighter on the skin. With it’s non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic formula, this would be a good pick for those who are acne-prone as well.

The lighter shade is a bit pink, which doesn’t work as well for yellow or olive skin tones like mine but if you’re neutral or pink, you’ll have no issue.

Best for deeper skin tones

I’ve yet to find a mineral sunscreen that doesn’t leave a visible cast on deep skin tones. The zinc oxide in mineral formulas is a white mineral that translates poorly on deep skin tones, no matter how sophisticated the formula. For that reason, I recommend a chemical sunscreen like Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40 instead.

Supergoop is a veteran in the the sunscreen game and it’s products are tried and true. Available in 4 different shades, you’ll get the glow you want in a base that is essentially clear vs. white when blended in.

Best for dry skin

Kosas DreamBeam Silicone-Free Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40 incorporates hydrating ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid alongside anti-aging peptides in a silicone-free formula. It comes in both peachy pink and golden finishes and meets Sephora clean standards.

If you’d like a few non-glowy options, I rounded up some other great face sunscreens in a previous post. As long as you are wearing it, that’s the most important thing. The best sunscreen for you is the one you enjoy enough to use and reapply daily.
