City Beauty City Lips Review

Lip plumping products are a category I typically avoid. Most utilize ingredients to induce swelling in the lips, and if you know anything about inflammation, you know it usually starts with irritation.
I had assumed that you couldn’t get a plumping effect without the use of menthol, cinnamon, peppermint oil or capsicum…
until I tried City Beauty City Lips.
At 41 years old, I’ve noticed my lip line becoming less pigmented, less defined and almost blurry. I can’t say I love to see that, but I definitely still love wearing lip color so what can I do?
City Beauty’s City Lips products do double duty, giving you both instant gratification and building hydration over time. I’ll be telling you about my experience with 3 of their lip plumping products.

City Lips Line Therapy
This lip prep product has a surprising formula. Rather than being a balm, it’s a matte cream that feels more like a lotion on the lips. It absorbs quickly, without adding any sparkle or shine.
Make sure to apply to the lip line itself to harness the line plumping powers there, especially if you struggle with vertical lines here.
Key ingredients
- Copper Peptides: anti-aging ingredient that helps soften wrinkles
- Ceramides: hydrates
Be careful not to get this in your mouth as it doesn’t very good. That being said, I liked it’s quick absorption and dry down, preparing the lip canvas for the next step.
City Lips Night Oil
Despite it’s name, I use this day and night. I first apply the City Lips Line Therapy, then follow with this night oil. I let both products absorb while doing my makeup. By the time I’m ready to do my lips, they are plumped and hydrated.
The scent is described as a “light grapefruit” and it’s not overpowering or unpleasant. The texture feels silky and not overly oily. Most lip oils have short staying power but I find this is more of a gloss/oil hybrid, allowing it to stay on better.
Key ingredients
- Portulaca Pilosa Extract: rejuvenates and hydrates
- Plankton and floral extract: anti-aging micro algae
- Hyaluronic acid spheres: promotes deep hydration for a plumper look

City Lips Plumping Lip Gloss
This plumping gloss is what I consider to be City Beauty’s breakout hit. It’s why I knew of the brand. Of all the plumping glosses I’ve tried, this is by far the most comfortable. There is no stinging, no burning, no tingling. I do notice a fuller look after applying and find that applying just over the lip line is key.
Key ingredients
- Hyaluronic acid spheres: hydrating spheres that expand and draw in moisture for a plump look
- Oligopeptides: amino acids that promote volume and smooth lines
- Jojoba oil: soothing and moisturizing
- Ceramides: for lasting hydration and healing
Because it feels nourishing, it’s easy and enjoyable to reapply without drying out or irritating the lips. I like wearing City Lips Plumping Gloss both on it’s own and top of existing lip colors.
One tip I learned from fellow City Beauty fan Painted by Spencer is to prep the lips with the clear gloss, extending it over the lip line for those of us starting to lose lip line definition.
Overall Thoughts
I’m really glad I got to try the full line of City Beauty lip products. This is a solid, well-rounded, quality anti-aging lip care line I can rely on. I enjoy using the products and will definitely continue to do so.
