My Favorite NYX Products

fave-nyx-header

With NYX Cosmetics now being sold at your local Target and Target.com, I wanted to share some of my very favorite NYX products with you! These are products that I’ve been using and loving for quite some time now and I think you will find that their price pales in comparison to their quality.
If you aren’t familiar with the brand, NYX Cosmetics is headquartered in L.A. and was created in 1999 by Toni Ko. NYX Cosmetics is known for it’s high color payoff and high-end dupability at low prices.

And whether right or wrong, I’ve noticed NYX has ripped off some higher-end lines’ products, down to the packaging and everything! Smashbox and Make Up For Ever appear to be among their fave lines to duplicate.

1.) The Wonder Pencil
This is a truly multi-tasking dude for your makeup arsenal. It works well for a myriad of things including: reverse lip liner, highlighter, spot concealer for blemishes, inner eye rim brightener, under brow highlighter, and 1 cool bonus use I will tell you about:
If you have bags under your eyes, get the lightest shade of the Wonder Pencil, draw directly under the bag, on the shadow it is creating. Tap with your ring finger to blend out and it should pop out that shadow for you!

2.) Cream Rouge Cream Blushes
These are super duper pigmented and a teeny bit goes a long way! I like to dip a small duo-fiber stippling brush into one and blend onto my cheeks using circular  motions.

3.) Mega Shine Lip Gloss
These are non-sticky and pigmented enough to make an impact. I really like the colors Natural and Beige. I’ve actually found Beige to be a great NARS Orgasm Lipgloss dupe, despite the name being Beige. You will notice that NYX’s products are named a little strangely. The scent of these glosses is a tad fruity for me but they’re a great formula overall.

4.) Soft Matte Lip Cream
I’ve gushed about these in a previous post, and with good reason. It’s very rare to find not only a matte lip color in a gloss format, but one that is non-drying as well. These fit the bill! They smell really nice to me too.

5.) Ultra Pearl Mania Loose Shadow
I’ve used one of these in a previous post and love the metallic quality to them. They aren’t supremely-pigmented but with a wet brush, they can be built up to an almost foil-like finish.

6.) Jumbo Eye Pencil
These are some of the very best jumbo eye pencils of any brand I’ve tried. They don’t crease and come in a wide array of shimmer, glitter and matte colors. Your best bets are Milk, Black Bean and Dark Brown for their extremely versatility. Milk makes an awesome, matte, white eyeshadow base. You can use Black Bean and Dark Brown similarly, placing a metallic shadow on top for a cool, burnished effect. Of course these can also be used on their own, blended out as an all-over lid color or in the crease.

7.) Eyebrow Shaper
This look suspiciously like Anastasia’s Brow Fix, does it not? The Anastasia one is nearly $12 more however. This is a great tool for keeping brows in place, without the crunchy hard feeling that brow gels often create. Applying this to brows before you fill in with powder will also give the powder something to adhere to better.

Hi, I just googled What’s the most famous NYX product? and your blogpost came up. NYX has just launched online in New Zealand and we don’t have a lot of the stuff that’s available in the US and UK but I hope that changes soon. I’ve got my eye on a few thing’s in the Jumbo Eye Pencil’s, Soft Matte Lip Creams and the Butter Glosses. I’ve just subscribed to your blog etc.
    Thanks for writing this post.
