New Year’s Eve Look-Blue & Brown

blueglittereyes

New Year’s Eve is thee time to get sparkly with it and I think you know I’m a pretty big fan of glitter. The traditional NYE eye look is usually a smoky eye with silver, perhaps gold. While it’s classic, and it definitely works, I wanted to try a look that was a bit more unexpected.

I created a chocolate smoky eye with blue glitter, paired with a spiced nude lip. This is a makeup look that will elevate any little black dress and I think it would look so fun for New Year’s or any night out.

Watch the video tutorial to see exactly how to create your own blue sparkle magic! I also listed the steps below if maybe you’re reading this blog post in bed, next to your sleeping husband/bf/pets and don’t want to play a video right now 🙂

Step-by-step

To begin our look, we’re going to highlight the highest point of the brow bone with Makeup Geek’s Shimma Shimma on a small brush.

Now, we’re going to add some dimension to the eye by placing a warm brown with a reddish undertone in the crease. I’m using Makeup Geek’s Cocoa Bear. This color is divine.

We’re going to place a deep, chocolate brown like Makeup Geek’s Mocha all over the lid, building up the color in several layers. We want it to be pretty dark and though all the MUG shadows are great, this one isn’t as pigmented as some of the others.

I’m going to also take a small brush and drag that same Mocha color along the lower lashline.

To add more dimension and depth, I’m going to place Makeup Geek’s Corrupt on the outer corner only with a smudge brush and then grab a blending brush from Sigma to soften it and blend it inwards for a nice fade. Now this MUG shadow is uber-pigmented!

Now using a black pencil liner, like Ardency Inn’s Modster liner, I’m lining my waterline and smudging a little more of the mocha shadow along that bottom lash line.

Now, are you ready for the funnest part?! Take a glitter adhesive and press all over the inner and center parts of your lid. Don’t take it all the way up to your crease though.

Dip that brush into loose, blue glitter-and make sure it’s fine cosmetic glitter and brush over the adhesive in layers. I like to build it up several layers deep so it’s ultra glittery.

Apply mascara to your bottom and top lashes. I’m using Lorac Pro mascara but you can honestly anything you like.

Ok, it’s false lashes time! I took a regular strip lash and cut it into 3’s to make it easier to apply. if you struggle with applying lashes on yourself, this is a good way to have a little more control. I’m dipping each section into Duo lash adhesive, waiting about 30 seconds, and then placing as close to my natural lash line as I can.

Now that we’ve completed our eye look, we are going to conceal and brighten up the under eye area with concealer. I’m applying Stila’s Stay All Day cream concealer that I’ve mixed with a little eye cream.

To conceal our lash band and add uniformity, I am using a black liquid liner to trace a thin line along my top lash line.
