Red Carpet Look
Because makeup is an art form, and my favorite one at that, I often find inspiration in non-makeup things. When my good friend Kelly of the drool-worthy blog, A Sparkle Affair, posted this holy-crap art deco ring, I loved it so much and knew it would inspire some red carpet-worthy makeup! I will never walk a red carpet, but if I did, I’d wear that ring, with this dress, and this makeup!
I actually combined 3 different lip products to replicate the color of the ruby stones. I first lined and filled in my lips with OCC Colour Pencil in ‘Hoochie’, then applied Smashbox Be Legendary Long Wear Lip Lacquer in ‘Bordeaux’ and added OCC Lip Tar in ‘Strumpet’ on top to create jewel-like dimension. You’ll notice I connected the peaks of my top lip to echo the rounded shapes in the ring.
Because the onyx stone has shine, but isn’t sparkly per say, I used a phenomenal matte black shadow from the Paula’s Choice The Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette. Seriously-these shadows are amazing with zero fallout! I used the warm brown from that same palette in my crease.
To create platinum sheen, I used this gorgeous Julep Orbital Shadow in ‘Moonbeam’. It’s described as “silver with lilac pearlescence” and that describes it better than I can. For my waterline, I used Julep Gel Eye Glider in ‘Blackest Black’ and on my top lash line, Borghese Linea Precisa Liquid Eyeliner.
This look is definitely red carpet or gala-appropriate but is likely far too high impact for everyday wear! I had a meeting after doing this look and I actually wiped off the deep lip and did a nude one instead. You can totally customize it for where you’re headed and the time of day. Hey girl…hey.
I hope you liked this “inspired” look. I hope to do more as I’m inspired by everything from cars to lighting fixtures to my cat’s fur patterns! Thanks so much for reading! <3

Julep and Borghese sent me some pretty products for review. The Paula’s Choice palette was also sent for review. I received no financial compensation for this post and all opinions expressed are my own.
