Summer Festival Look
Tis the most wonderful time of the year! Summer, yesh, but also festival season! Technically, music festivals start ramping up around May but we are in the prime time right now.
Maybe you’re heading to Summer Set in Wisconsin, Lollapalooza in Chicago or here in Des Moines, 80-35 is this weekend!
First rule of festival makeup is anything goes. Second rule though is for your makeup to be comfortable. You want lightweight and long wearing, but still more fun than your day-to-day look.
You will want to forego a full coverage foundation and trade it in for a BB or CC cream, and definitely one with SPF. Cream finishes are going to wear better than powders and look less haggard as the day goes on.
Since you will be outdoors, wear that SPF or the only music you’ll be hearing is a sad trombone serenading your lobster body.
I recently worked on a piece for online women’s magazine, Divine Caroline, showing ways to use brightly colored liners in your makeup routine. A show stopping liner is really all you need to achieve a look outside the norm for a festival environment.
Here are a few of the looks I did for Divine Caroline. Hop on over there for more deetz. I’m mega excited to be working with them.
I made a video to show you this simple festival look that can even be done without brushes. I know many camp at festivals so you can achieve this look and leave your brushes behind.
The crystals are optional, but you know me. “Like a rhinestone cowboy…”
