Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara Review

I’ve never been a troublemaker. I’m a rule follower, for the most part. When it comes to makeup though, I don’t mind a little chaos.  promises to stir up trouble with 13.7x the lash volume in a long-lasting, sex-proof, yes sex-proof formula. Read on to find out if this newest mascara offering is trouble in all the right ways, or just trouble.

Packaging 10/10
The holographic, textured tube is so great. I think they nailed it, setting themselves apart from all the other black or metallic tubes out there right now. Bravo, Urban Decay.

Value 7/10

At $24, that is on par with most other high end mascaras. When I spend that much on a mascara though, I want it to be my holy freaking grail.

Pigment 10/10
I want my mascara to be black as my soul. Just kidding; my soul isn’t black,  but I want my mascara to be. This really is a deep, rich, pigmented carbon black.

Formula 6/10
The photos below will tell you why I gave this a 6. It started out ok, but then as you’ll see, the formula got goopy and thick. I’ve only had it for a month or so, so that seems strange for it to get so thick, so fast.

Brush 6/10
Simply put, this brush is crazy town. I mean, it’s got some long, some short, some hooked. I get where they were going with this, hoping for the bristles to catch every lash, but in the end, it’s just tricky to work with. You have to be super careful or you’ll get too much product on some lashes, not enough on others.

Wear 9/10

I don’t have problems with mascara smudging or running but this had zero flakes or runs.

 PROS
  • Definitely lengthens and volumizes
  • No flakes or smudges
  • Awesome packaging
  • One coat gives high impact

CONS

  • Can get clumpy
  • Formula thickens over time
  • Brush is crazy and scary to work with
  • Price is on the high end

Do I recommend it?
No. For $24, there are tons of other high-end mascaras that are easier to use. Honestly, I like better. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t hate it at all. Would I spend my money on it to repurchase though? No.
