Versed Makeup Review

Whenever I get a text or DM asking for quality affordable skincare recommendations, Versed is always at the top of my list. With their newest launch of skincare-inspired makeup, Versed makeup just might be joining my list of affordable makeup faves too.

Versed makeup products, left to right: lip serum, cream blush stick, skin tint, brush.

They’ve launched with a pretty comprehensive offering of 14 core products:

  • Skin Tint
  • Concealer
  • Cream blush stick
  • Brush
  • Brow gel
  • Bronzer stick
  • Highlighter stick
  • Lip scrub and mask
  • Glow drops
  • Primer
  • Mascara
  • Liquid eyeshadow
  • Lipstick
  • Glossy lip balm

The Versed makeup line is dermatologist tested, cruelty free and vegan and everything is $20 or less. I was recently sent some items from the line to try out and I’ll be breaking them down for you below.

Multi Serum Skin Tint

This lightweight complexion product has a mineral SPF of 40 and describes itself as a nourishing serum with buildable coverage. It’s available in 14 shades and I found 4W was an excellent match for me.

I like to apply skin tints and tinted moisturizer type products with my fingers and found this method worked best for me.

I found it didn’t apply as well with the Versed Multi-Tasking Brush as it just required a bit more blending.

The finish is very dewy and glowy so this product definitely isn’t for you if you’re oily or like a more matte look. You’ll need to set with a powder for longevity purposes, which surprisingly, Versed does not yet have.

Overall, for a dewy skin tint with SPF at a $20 price point, this Versed product is pretty impressive.

Shade Swipe Blush Stick

This cream blush stick can be applied to both cheeks and lips and is available in 6 shades. I have the shade Bloom, which is described as a rosy mauve and I really love the color. It’s spot on for what I was hoping it would be.

I don’t like to use stick products directly on my face so I apply it to the brush first, then press into the skin. It applied well, with no breaking up of the product below. It is buildable as it states, so not overwhelmingly pigmented right away, which is nice.

I don’t find the wear time to be exceptional, and it’s worth noting that I did see a bit of breaking up throughout the day.

Tinted Lip Serum

This moisturizing lip serum is available in 5 shades. I have Gem, a rich cherry and it’s really pretty. I’m super glad I chose this juicy color.

This is a sheer, but buildable product with a glossy finish. It feels like a hydrating balm vs. a lip gloss or lip oil.

You have to click the pen to advance the product, which is not what I expected, but hopefully it fares well over time. It feels great on and is enjoyable to reapply.

Versed Multi Tasking Brush

I really like the slight angle of this dense brush head. I preferred to apply the Versed blush with this brush more than the Skin Tint. The vegan bristles feel very soft and well made and the size of the brush head makes it versatile. For being the only brush currently in the Versed makeup line, I think it’s a great option.

Versed Day Lash

The name is fitting as this is a very natural, everyday mascara. This certainly didn’t give me an “are those your real lashes?” look but that’s ok. It separates and lengthens a bit, but doesn’t add much in the way of volume. It reminds me a bit of Glossier Lash Slick in terms giving a natural look.

In stark contrast to Lash Slick, a tubing mascara, I definitely experienced smudging with this. Despite it’s water-resistant claims, I had noticeable smearing early in the day and consider that to be it’s major flaw.

Versed Cashmere Color

This lip product just might be the standout of the entire Versed makeup collection. I can tell it’s made in Korea because it gives that signature, quintessential K-beauty blurred lip. To me, this is the new matte. The effect is soft and shine free, but not dry. I have the color Reserve, described as a berry brown, and it’s just so pretty and sophisticated.

Versed Sheer Stay Liquid Eyeshadow

I’m on the perpetual hunt for the perfect champagne shimmer shadow. We love a perfect one-and-done so I had to try the shade Plus One. I wouldn’t call this the perfect as it leans a bit more gold than I’d like. Rather than use the doe foot wand, I prefer to apply to the back of my hand, then pick up product with the brush. It blends out well and feels weightless on the lids. I experienced no creasing throughout the day. I’d be interested in trying more shades in this liquid eyeshadow.

Versed Serum Concealer

This concealer comes with some pretty hefty claims including: “it won’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles. Instead, it gently blurs for a smooth, skin-like finish. Plus, the formula self-sets, so don’t have to weary about creasing.”

Available in 14 shades, I was sent the shade 4W, which I found works great on blemishes, but is too dark for the under eye. I still tested it out and found the formula to be average. Despite being described as a serum concealer, I didn’t find it to be particularly hydrating. I also didn’t find it to blur in any way, although I would have certainly welcomed that.

It still dried out in my under eye area throughout the day, as most other liquid concealers do. It wore an average amount of time on blemishes. Over all, nothing to rave about here.
