The best glitter makeup

You can call it the herpes of craft supplies/makeup all you want, but don’t deny it; you love glitter. You do. Deep down in your black soul, you love those particles of shine. Glitter is fun but you have to use the right stuff so that you don’t end up hating it. I’ll be telling you about my favorites, the best glitter makeup for New Years Eve or just any random Tuesday.

The Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners are easily the most user-friendly. Though they say eyeliner, they can be used in a myriad of other ways in your makeup.

Ways to use Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners

  1. Above your regular black eyeliner for a double liner look
  2. On top of your regular eyeliner as a glitter topcoat
  3. Glitter cut crease
  4. All over the lid as a shimmery eyeshadow topcoat
  5. On the cupid’s bow for a trend I tried to make happen a few years ago. It didn’t.

Shown above
1. Distortion / 2. Pyro / 3. Spandex / 4. ACDC / 5. Catcall / 6. Glam Rock / 7. Gamma Ray / 8. Punk Rock / 9. Midnight Cowboy / 10. Grind / 11. Stix and Bones

While they are all super fun, the must have colors would be Midnight Cowboy, for being such a universally flattering, not-too-yellow gold and the holographic Pyro for it’s ability to transform any color you put it on top of. These are my go-to glitter makeup that anyone can use.

My other favorite glitter product is from the company Lemonhead. Lemonhead makes safe, mess-free glitter for use on eyes, lips, face, hair and body! I have 2 of their Space Pastes. On the left is Gunshow, Mulholland on the right.

Space Pastes are cosmetic glitter suspended in gel comprised of aloe, vegetable glycerin, jojoba oil, apricot seed oil, , vitamin E and scented with an essential oil blend. They can be applied with fingers or a synthetic brush. I found that fingers work best.

Lemonhead was started by makeup artist, Megan Dugan who wanted to find a way to use glitter makeup in editorial photoshoots without the huge mess. She concocted her space pastes and here we are.

Mulholland is a pink/rose gold that is so pretty, you might just want to bathe in it. See photo below. It is the epitome of “that escalated quickly.” It really did. See this video I did.

Below is Gunshow. I tried to film a look with this late at night but it got so out of control that I just deleted the footage and went to bed. Are you sensing a theme here? That the Lemonhead products make me do bad things and go too far?

I recently re-did the look and this is what resulted. I’m still not as in love with this color as I thought I would be. It contains both gunmetal and black glitter particles and on my light skin, the glitter reads more like specks of pepper. From afar though, definitely a fun New Years Eve look.

You can see it in action in the video below and see for yourself what you think.

Thank you for reading and happy glittering!
