Blackberry Truffle-Valentine’s Day Eye

Blkberry Truffle TutorialI hope that you are feeling the love this Valentine’s Day, no matter who that is with! This is a sultry, matte eye look for the special day, or any night out.
It’s easy to get carried away with all the pink, red and white, sparkles, hearts, etc.
I wanted to do a very mature eye so I used all matte shades (with the exception of the inner eye highlight.)

I based the look around a MAC eye shadow I have called Blackberry. It’s a beautiful plummy matte shade that looks smoky and dramatic, especially when blended with blacks and browns as I have done here.

I did the look like this:

1.) Start with a primed lid and groomed brows.

2.) Pat Maybelline’s Color Tattoo cream shadow in Pomegranate Punk all over the lid with your finger, bringing it above the crease slightly. Pat MAC’s Blackberry over this.

3.) Take a small shader brush and apply a shimmery pink highlight shade like Urban Decay’s Sin on the inner corner.

4.) Take a fluffy crease brush and blend a dark, matte chocolate brown shade into the crease. I used the dark brown shade in Smashbox’s Classified Palette. It’s a gift my mom gave me a few years back so it’s no longer available, but any matte brown will do.

I like to use a brown before black when doing smoky eyes as it softens the look and adds more depth and dimension to the look.

5.) Now bring in a sooty matte black like Urban Decay’s Blackout. This is one of the blackest blacks out there. It reminds me of those charcoal briskets you put in the grill.

6.) Blend the brown and black together seamlessly with your fluffy crease brush. Add some more of MAC Blackberry to your brush to really blend all the colors together.

7.) Highlight under the brow bone with a vanilla shade-I used a cream color from the Smashbox Classified palette.

8.) Take a plum colored pencil liner and smudge under the lower lash line. I used Wet n’ Wild’s Color Icon liner in Amythest.

9.) Line your upper lash line with a deep black pencil liner. I used mark’s No Place to Run in Jet Set.

10.) Line waterline with a white liner, pulling it up past the outer corner in an upward slant. I used Sephora’s Nano Liner in Pure White.

11.) Coat top and bottom lashes with a volumizing mascara. I used Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes.

12.) Add demi lashes at the corners if desired. I just cut a regular strip in half.
