Fake a Blow Out with Hot Rollers

blowoutscreengrab

Hot rollers are not only a part of my hair arsenal but my childhood as well! My mom has used them as long as I can remember. We didn’t even have a curling iron in the house! When I want full, voluminous, sexual hair but can’t get to a blow out bar or my stylist, hot rollers help me fake that look easily and here’s how!

I used the Conair Ion Shine Hot Rollers in this tutorial. I like that they have flocking on them, keeping them cooler to touch, more gentle on hair and helping them to stay in much better. The ones my mom had growing up looked like legit torture devices covered with spikes. The heated barrel of the roller creates smooth, full, bended waves, similar to a round brush and blow dryer.

After I roll all my hair, I spray my entire head with a light hold hairspray, let the rollers cool, carefully unroll, then flip my head upside down to loosen the curls and spray again!

Now you know that I certainly don’t claim to be a hair genius. This technique is just something that has always worked for me. Nothing beats a great blow out though so if I have the time, I’m all for it but in the mean time? I’m rolling with it!

Do you use any product to help hold the curl?

Hi Emily! I just used a Pantene light hold hairspray but I’ve been using Kevin Murphy’s Smooth Again while my hair is wet and then blow drying. I feel like it helps to protect and give my hair a bit more grip. Thank you for reading!

Okay you are a pro. I either have too much freaking horse hair (lol, but quite a possibility) or I’m wayyyyyy beginner-level on being able to curl my hair! Love your results- you look gorgeous!
