Mally Perfect Prep Under Eye Brightener

What is this fancy little jar of banana pudding?! *insert banana and various monkey emojis here* It’s even better than pudding because it’s the first step in saying goodbye to under eye circles! And there’s even more good news! Today only, as part of Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty, Mally Beauty Perfect Prime Under Eye Brightener is $22 (regularly $35!)

When you place yellow on top of purple or reddish tones, it neutralizes them. This allows your concealer to not have to work so hard and you end up using even less of it!

While I do have other makeup on here, I don’t have anything on my under eye circles or discoloration around the eye area. As you can see, my dark circles are more purple/red than blue and I have some hyperpigmentaion to contend with as well because I’m hashtag blessed.

Now here is what my under eye darkness looks like after using the Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Under Eye Brightener, my usual concealer and setting powder.

So here’s how to tell your under eye darkness to peace out.

Using your ring finger, dab the Mally Perfect Prep Under Eye Brightener on the areas of darkness._MG_0726

Now use tapping motions to blend it out. Whenever blending product in the eye area, always tap vs. rubbing back and forth. This is some of the thinnest skin on the face.

As you can see, we’ve already knocked out about 75% of the darkness! Boosh!

Now I’m taking my concealer and just placing it where I have the most darkness.

After setting with powder, I’m all, “what dark circles?!”

Ok, so do I think this product is a step worth adding to your routine?
I really do! Color correction is not a new idea, but a technique that anyone can use, not just makeup artists. I have always loved using yellow correctors to cancel out my purple circles rather than the peachy/apricot ones that are geared more towards blue/brown circles.

I like that Mally called this product Perfect Prep because it implies it preps the area but doesn’t fully cover. You could probably get by with just this in a pinch, but the yellow cast will be there for sure.

The texture of this product is really ideal for the under eye area because it hydrates but is oil-free and melts into skin seamlessly. It’s a gel-cream and doesn’t feel oily or sticky whatsoever. You also get a ton of product. I could also see this being used as a cream highlight for those of us with yellow undertones. This comes in 2 shades btw. I am using the lighter of the two, appropriately named ‘Lighter’.

The only thing I don’t love is that it it’s a bit messy when you first open it up so just be careful!

You can only get this for $22 today only at Ulta stores or online so I’d jump on it if you have dark circles like me!

Your makeup looks great! What color lipstick are you wearing?

Thank you so much, Shannon! Great question but I BELIEVE it was my favorite nude lipstick ever-NYX Butter Lipstick in Snow Cap with a gloss on top. I wrote about that lipstick color here: http://wakeupformakeup.com/?p=4195
      I just love it!
