Foreo Luna Mini Review

Let’s take a walk through my graveyard of beauty products. As we pass discarded lipstick colors and say a prayer for mismatched foundations, we remember those we have lost along the way, from Target runs to Sephora hauls. We come upon a headstone that reads Clarisonic Mia, 2011–2015. We had a good run. I loved you. But then you died, became a ghost, and started turning yourself on in my bathroom drawer in the middle of the night. I grieved and I moved on. I moved onto konjac sponges, peels and now, because I’m ready to try the high tech facial cleansing again, the FOREO LUNA Mini. foreo-luna-pkgI didn’t have any expectations for the Luna Mini being that it’s such a different device than the Clarisonic brush. There are no brush heads and no handle. It’s much smaller. FOREO says you’ll notice a difference within 3 days but the first time I used it and felt my skin, I was impressed.

THE BASICS
Made of soft silicone that’s suitable for even sensitive skin, the FOREO Luna Mini uses 8,000 T-sonic pulsations per minute to remove dirt, oil, makeup and dry skin. I can tell that FOREO is a Swedish company because of the Luna Mini’s chic design. It was made to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, a more natural feeling than holding a brush handle. Instead of toothbrush-like brush fibers, this has silicone nubs that remind me of when they show you a close up of a cat’s tongue. If you know me, you are not surprised by this reference.

The device has 2 speeds, low and high with one button controlling it all. It vibrates during it’s 1 minute cycle to remind you to move onto the next area of your face. My Clarisonic Mia did no such thing. It also pulses 3 times when 1 minute is up but doesn’t shut off just incase you want to keep going. When it signal’s the minute’s end, I run it across my lips quickly to whisk away any dry flakes!

CHARGING
An awesomely convenient thing about the Luna Mini is that it only takes an hour to charge up, vs. Clarisonic’s full 24 hours. You can get a whopping 300 uses out of one charge too! I love that the charger is USB compatible too as on-the-go gals can charge via laptop.

COST
It retails for $139.00 at AskDerm. Considering Clarisonic brush heads cost $25 each and should be replaced every 3 months, you will literally save $100 in the first year of owning a FOREO. That savings alone is a no brainer for me. foreo-luna-suds

RESULTS
I’ve been using the FOREO Luna Mini once daily for nearly a month now. I have found my skin to be softer with less dry flakes, making my makeup apply so much smoother. I have been using the larger silicone points on my nose where I get a ton of black heads, and it has at least made it feel smoother. Nothing will truly eliminate blackheads aside from temporary solutions like extractions and pore strips unfortunately.

FINAL THOUGHTS
If you’re wanting to take your cleansing routine to the next level, and you’re trying to decide between a Clarisonic brush or a FOREO device, I wholeheartedly recommend the FOREO Luna Mini.

I love how detailed all this is! Also, it seems like a great alternative to the Clarisonic. 🙂

Great review, lady. I was curious how this would compare to the Clarisonic- the savings is pretty legit. Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROCK STAR!
