Kansas City Fashion Week: Beauty Trends
Braids, buns and eyeliner.
That’s how I’d sum up the Spring/Summer 2014 beauty trends I observed at Kansas City Fashion Week.
I had the opportunity to attend this event for the first time and I was so impressed!
If you are a die-hard Project Runway fan like me but NYFW just isn’t in the cards, please do yourself a favor and check out Kansas City Fashion Week next year. The Union Station venue is breathtaking, the runway, lights, DJ, everything was so well-orchestrated.

Here are some of the major beauty trends I observed:
HAIR
-Buns-both high and low! High and messy with headbands at BMDesigns and low and chic at Hilary Brown
-Volume! Teased at the crown at RareTrends and lioness and flowing at Lauren Bander
-Braids-and lots of ’em! Low, loose side braids, fishtails and accent braids sprinkled through all collections
MAKEUP
– Extreme liner. There as a major emphasis on sharp, bold eyeliner shapes. Black, straight, sharp.
– Bright raspberry lips at BMDesigns and red lips at RareTrends
– Ethereal, minimal looks, as seen on the fairy princess army of Kate Walz and Lauren Bander’s Bohemian girls
– Earth tones on the eyes like warm browns and mushroom taupes
