Kansas City Fashion Week: Beauty Trends

KCFW-header

Braids, buns and eyeliner.
That’s how I’d sum up the Spring/Summer 2014 beauty trends I observed at Kansas City Fashion Week.

I had the opportunity to attend this event for the first time and I was so impressed!
If you are a die-hard Project Runway fan like me but NYFW just isn’t in the cards, please do yourself a favor and check out Kansas City Fashion Week next year. The Union Station venue is breathtaking, the runway, lights, DJ, everything was so well-orchestrated.
Thank you to fellow blogger Kathryn Mansur who did such a beautiful job promoting and organizing this event.
I attended the Saturday night show and viewed the collections of:

Here are some of the major beauty trends I observed:

HAIR
-Buns-both high and low! High and messy with headbands at BMDesigns and low and chic at Hilary Brown

-Volume! Teased at the crown at RareTrends and lioness and flowing at Lauren Bander

-Braids-and lots of ’em! Low, loose side braids, fishtails and accent braids sprinkled through all  collections

MAKEUP
– Extreme liner. There as a major emphasis on sharp, bold eyeliner shapes. Black, straight, sharp.

– Bright raspberry lips at BMDesigns and red lips at RareTrends

– Ethereal, minimal looks, as seen on the fairy princess army of Kate Walz and Lauren Bander’s Bohemian girls

– Earth tones on the eyes like warm browns and mushroom taupes
