Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains are a newer product in Revlon’s impressive Colorstay line.  I’ve been a long-time fan of Revlon’s lip products so I had pretty high hopes for these bebes. I adore the Lip Butters and the Balm Stains, both of which over-deliver in terms of drugstore lip products. So did these bring it? Read on…

left to right: London Posh, Barcelona Nights, Cannes Crush, Milan Moment, Shanghai Sizzle, India Intrigue

Colors: The colors are vivid and beautiful and come in an even larger range than shown above. My top favorites are the cool-toned deep pink, India Intrigue, the warm-toned, Barcelona Nights and the juicy orange/red, Shanghai Sizzle. London Posh is one of the colors I can’t get behind. It’s too frosty. It looks gross on me.

Formula: Here’s what I’m not digging. At all. I’m going to try to describe this as accurately as I can, but the formula feels “chunky” on the lips. I much prefer the L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stains. This feels thick and goopy compared to L’Oreal’s formula–not at all light or weightless. When applying, you sort of have to move the product around your lip, get it into place, then wait for it to dry. Once set, it seems fine and much smoother, but I’m confused at the texture for sure.

Wear: Meh-it’s nothing to write home about. Or in a blog about for that matter. I found myself reapplying no less frequently than I would a lipstick.

Overall: If you’re looking for a drugstore lip stain, there are simply better ones to be had like L’Oreal’s. This was a rare swing and a miss for Revlon. Sorry kids.
