My Favorite Red Lipstick
Red lips are the high heels of your face. They are one of the easiest ways to take your look from meh to meooow. I don’t wear a red lip often. I tend to reserve it for certain times. Maybe when I’m going out somewhere fancy, or when I need a confidence boost before a meeting. Works every time.
Well I just recently found my VERY FAVORITE red. It’s a “yo, let’s get married” kind of red. It’s not too orange, not too blue-based either. Just a lovely, lovely rich red. The finish is matte, but not too matte. The formula is very long-wearing but not drying at all. Ok, fine, I’ll tell you what it is! It’s the BITE Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Pomegranate.
BITE Beauty is a lip specific company from Canada and they ROOL. Their products are all natural and contain antioxidants like reservatrol, the same antioxidant found in red wine. I’ve gushed about their Agave Lip Mask before and again. BITE Beauty is also the company behind the Lip Lab in New York, a place that is on my bucket list for sure. You go in and custom create your own signature shade. They can also recreate a discontinued one for you! And they wear little lab coats and use scientific tools! Beautygasm!
With any red lip, I like to start with a liner to make sure the shape is defined and create a barrier to prevent bleeding. My favorite red lip liner is MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in 8C

03/02/2014 at 3:20 AMI finally found a red that looks great on me during the summer months when I am a little tanned. Although I am a woman of warm color, a nice soft tan really works well with red lips. I get lots of compliments I when ever I wear it. Used to hate red lips on me, but you must find the shade that works best with your skin tone. Love it!
