Best Eyeshadows for Green Eyes
They say jealousy is a green-eyed monster, but there’s nothing monstrous about green eyes! Take it from me-I’m a member of the green eye club myself! There are a few variations-those with cooler gray-green eyes like me and those with more olive golden-green eyes. My mom has the latter. Jelly.
The following colors work for all shades of green. No need to buy exactly the shadows shown below. Just by using colors in these shade families, your green eyes look positively vivid!
1. Stila Eye Shadow in ‘Twig’ / 2. Sephora Colorful Eyeshadow in ‘Midnight Kiss’ / 3. Ardency Inn Manuka Honey Pigments in ‘Rose Gold’ / 4. Root Eyeshadow in ‘Paris’ / 5. L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in ‘Eternal Sunshine’ / 6. L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in ‘Glistening Garnet’ / 7. NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in ‘Phoebe’
Coppery Browns-1,3: The warmth in these shades contrasts with the coolness of gray-green eyes or plays up the brown or golden flecks in olive eyes. Here’s an example.
Red-toned purples- 2,6: Because red is opposite green on the color wheel, choosing purple, which is more flattering than red, provides that contrast. A red-toned purple will be more effective at this than a blue-toned violet. See this example.
Golds & Bronzes-5: Similar to coppery browns, the gold either contrasts with the iciness of gray-green eyes, or picks up the beautiful flecks of gold in the more warm-toned green eyes. I like to think of gold as a neutral. Check out this example.
Burgundy Wines-4,7: Back to the color wheel, because red it opposite green, a rosy wine color will provide that gorgeous contrast! These colors are some of my absolute favorite to wear because they light up green eyes like none other. Here’s an example.
What doesn’t work so well: Grays, silvers and frosty lilac shades tend to provide little contrast and can even dull down your eye color. I’ve found some success with these shades here, but it’s rare.
