Loving Lately: April Favorites
As we near the end of April, I’ve accumulated a nice little batch of favorites! I haven’t done a favorites round up in a while, and honestly don’t even know how I pulled this one together as I’ve been really busy with wedding and prom season ramping up. I’m a freelance makeup artist when I’m not typing in a WordPress browser window so I’ve been home very little these days. Some of these beauty products have made that a little easier on me. Read on.
NKD SKN Gradual Glow Daily Tan Moisturiser This organic sunless tanning product is great for what I call “take the edge off” color. It won’t make you a bronzed goddess but it gives your skin just enough tan that you don’t want to throw up at how white your legs are. It doesn’t stink either so you can actually put this on and go about your day not smelling like a garbage can.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Day to Night Lipstick Duo A bridesmaid had one of these at a wedding and I remember thinking, how smart! How has no one else done this? One end offers an office friendly shade with a bolder, night out shade on the opposite end. I love the formula as it’s silky and opaque with saturated color. The shades could be layered too.
Aveda Shampure Thermal Dry Conditioner I gave this the side eye at first. Dry conditioner? However, I’ve found this product to be perfect for calming frizz and adding softness and shine after letting my hair dry naturally. It sprays out in a really nice, diffused way that is controlled. You just want to make sure to use it on mid-strand to ends, not at the roots. I talk about their dry shampoo here.
REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask I complain about my dry skin a lot here so I’m sure you’re well aware by now. Because it’s so dry, any irritation or abrasion causes it to get red, itchy and inflamed. This is the only mask I’ve tried that truly calms it down in these times without one bit of stinging. I reviewed it here.
Real Techniques Eye Shade & Blend Brush Set It’s not always easy to find good synthetic eye blending brushes but this one is great. I use the larger brush for blending and buffing out concealer. I enjoy almost everything Real Techniques does.
ULTA Full Coverage Concealer This is a steal at $9 as it offers really great, opaque coverage and blends out really nicely. I have Light Warm for my NC20 skin tone.
Glossier Cloud Paint This is a super popular new product right now for good reason. It’s like blush in watercolor form and it blends out beautifully. It’s not sticky on the skin as some cream blushes can be. I have Beam which is a true peach and hope to acquire more colors, experimenting with mixing. Save 20% on your first order here.
LimeLight by Alcone Enduring Lip Color in Macaroon I’ve talked about this product before but find myself reaching for it a lot these days. I love this color because it’s such a great, wearable mid-tone nude that gives my face enough life, without being bold.
