Top 5 Spring Makeup Trends
This spring, we’re seeing some pretty bold makeup trends, which I personally love. I won’t lie-I don’t get excited about “no-makeup-makeup” or super natural looks. I am in the camp of, if you’re going to wear makeup, wear makeup, girl. Now let’s check out some of the spring makeup trends that I think could fit into any woman’s look!
Blackberry Lips
I am digging this trend because it throws people off. Spring makeup is characteristically light, pastel and colorful and I love that we can still party on the dark side. Some of my favorite shades for nailing this semi-goth look are: NYX Butter Gloss in Devil’s Food, Borghese Color Glass Eclissare Lip Gloss in Darkling or OCC Lip Tar in Black Dahlia paired with the OCC Colour Pencil in the same color, as shown above.
Graphic Liner
Winged liner is a classic shape but I’ve seen cat eyes much thicker, more graphic and intricate. Perhaps we have Ariana Grande to thank as she is perpetually sporting an ultra-thick winged line. The best gel liner of life, in my opinion, is Inglot’s AMC Eye Liner in 77-shown above. Some other favorites are Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Liner and the new Tarteist Clay Paint Liner.
Lower Lashline Love
We saw a rainbow of colors on the lower lash line in the spring shows. I think it’s a great way to wear a color that kinda freaks you out. Purple, aqua, cobalt and even orange provide an unexpected jolt of color in a sometimes-ignored area. Just make sure to apply mascara to your lower lashes to create a more polished look. I am wearing a mix of purples from the Urban Decay Electric Palette.
Cream Contouring Crazy
Try as you might, you can’t get away from contouring just yet. After pretty much every brand out there put out powder contour palettes, we suddenly saw an influx of cream contour palettes. Laura Mercier, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Becca, Kevyn Aucoin, NYX-they all have skin in the game. Perfectly contoured skin of course. The good news is that cream contouring tends to be more subtle and natural so this is a look that is a little less severe.
Metal Mouth
A metallic finish is something I typically reserve for my eyes but this spring, we’re seeing a lot of metallic lipsticks! Too Faced Melted Metals have been a big hit and several of the new Borghese Eclissare ColorStruck lipsticks have metallic finishes as well. In the photo above, I’m wearing the Borghese Eclissare ColorStruck in ‘Farside’. If you’re a fan of OCC’s Lip Tars, they have several killer metallic shades. I love Super NSFW, Black Metal Dahlia and Technopagan.
So do these trends scare you? Excite you? Which are you loving…or hating?
