Updated Foundation Routine
Oh sup winter! Thanks sooo much for drying out my skin so that I’m basically part reptile. You’re swell. Since my skin is dry as a desert, I’ve had to tweak my foundation application a little. I’m all about that dewy life. I of course moisturize really well beforehand. I use facial oils and/or a moisturizer with SPF in it. I make sure to let this settle for 15-20 minutes before applying makeup. I don’t always use a primer, but when I do, I like the for it’s pore-softening powers and skincare benefits. I’ve yet to find a liquid foundation I love as much as . Despite the word “sheer”, it has wonderful coverage. It makes my skin look healthy and luminous. It shall never be replaced. When I apply with a flat top kabuki brush, it’s totally full coverage but with a damp sponge like the, it’s a bit more medium coverage. My skin is more sensitive in winter and the sponge is the least-abrasive, most gentle way to apply product.
I’ve been mixing in a little liquid luminizer like Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector to add more radiance to my dull, wintry skin. If you have considerable texture on your face (wrinkles, enlarged pores) you may just want to add a tiny amount or just skip this step.
I apply concealer after foundation. I do so as I assess the coverage I get from foundation first, and then add only where I need additional coverage or brightness. Especially in the under eye area, I want this area to be bright and not dulled down by foundation on top. Make sense? I set my under eye concealer right away with a powder like Beige + Yellow Highlight from the. I press the powder in with my sponge. Make sure to do this sooner than later so the concealer doesn’t have time to crease or settle.
For the rest of my face, I love a loose translucent powder. I don’t want to alter the color of my foundation with another layer of color. I just want to mattify and set it into place.is great. It doesn’t leave my skin looking dry or chalky.
I love setting sprays for duh, setting, but also adding back in some hydration.is a great, affordable option.
